Meet Stacy

Stacy is a Canine Behavior Therapist & Pet Obedience Instructor.  She has been training people & their dogs since 1999.  She received her certification as a Canine Behavior Therapist through the Animal Behavior Center of New York.  Stacy has always had a love for animals & has the philosophy that dogs are family members, not just pets.  With her relationship-building-approach to training she helps dog owners build their relationship with their dogs in order to achieve successful training no matter what the issue may involve.

According to Stacy, a good relationship is the key to a successful & happy life for both dog & owner.  She believes there is real success when you know how to train correctly, discipline appropriately & lean on the side that works for the owner & the dog!  Stacy started with "old school"  methods that used choke chains & she discovered that this training rarely, if ever, works for any dog for very long.  She uses positive methods mixed with appropriate discipline that never uses aversives, jerking or brute force but rather helps the learning & training process succeed--and the relationship blossoms between dog & owner!

She is an active & full member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT), the American Dog
Owners Association, & Dog Scouts of America.

She is certified through the American Red Cross for CPR & first aid for cats & dogs & she is an AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator thru the American Kennel Club (AKC).  She was an obedience instructor for the Iron Dogs K9 Camp in October of 2005, & the Lee Mannix Dog Camp in November of 2007 & April of 2008.  Stacy likes to brag about her Jack Russell's cast in a Time Warner Cable TV commercial in February of 2007.

She is a mother to her human daughter, born in November of 2008, as well as to four beautiful dogs—Amos, a harlequin Great Dane, Trevor, a rough-coat Jack Russell Terrier, Jake a rescued yellow Labrador Retriever & Noah, a rescued Katrina dog that appears to be a Australian Shepherd/Border Collie cross.  She cannot imagine her life without her dogs & she is involved in as many things as possible with each, including agility, flyball, hiking, freestyle, therapy work & anything else fun for all parties!

Stacy tries to find new innovative training classes & activities that dog owners & their family members can participate in that benefit the dog & the family!  Check out the list of all the classes that Adventures offers by clicking here.
